Bailey and the Whispering Forest
A story created especially for Bailey
29 July 2026

One morning, a little path appeared right outside Bailey's door. It was made of soft green moss and tiny yellow flowers, and it wiggled away into the trees. Bailey put on a cosy jacket and followed it.

The forest was full of soft sounds: rustling leaves and the gentle drip of a little stream nearby. Bailey walked slowly, looking at everything with big, wondering eyes. Every step felt like a very special thing.

Then, pop! A fluffy brown rabbit hopped right onto the path. It had the roundest ears Bailey had ever seen. "Hello, rabbit," Bailey said, and the rabbit wiggled its nose three times.

A little further along, a red squirrel peered down from a low, wide branch. Then an owl with sleepy golden eyes blinked from a hollow in a tree. The forest was full of friends!

But then Bailey stopped. There were so many paths now. One went left, one went right, and one went straight ahead. Which way was the way through the forest? Bailey sat down on a soft mossy log to think.

The rabbit hopped up beside Bailey. The squirrel skittered down from its branch. The owl floated over on quiet wings. All the forest friends had come to help!

The rabbit hopped down the middle path, stopped, and looked back. That was the way! Bailey smiled and followed, with the squirrel and the owl coming along too. Together, they walked all the way through the forest.

At the edge of the forest, the path curved back home. Bailey waved goodbye to all the animals. "Goodbye, rabbit! Goodbye, squirrel! Goodbye, owl!" Bailey called. They all waved back in their own little ways.

Bailey came home feeling warm all over, full of the adventure. There had been a rabbit, a squirrel, and a sleepy owl, and the forest had been so gentle and kind. Bailey curled up under a soft blanket and thought about all the friends waiting in the trees.

Eyes growing heavy, Bailey could almost hear the leaves rustling and the rabbit's soft hops. The squirrel, the owl, and all the forest waited quietly until tomorrow. And very, very slowly, Bailey drifted off to sleep.
